Home Infusion Therapy

Homecare Services

This involves the administration of medications, fluids, or nutrients via intravenous (IV) or other infusion routes in the comfort of a patient’s home. It allows patients to receive necessary medical treatments without the need for prolonged hospital stays or frequent visits to a medical facility. Home infusion therapy is administered by registered nurses with extensive experience in IV therapy, patient education, and support.

Types of IV Infusions:

Home infusion therapy involve the administration of various medications, including antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals, chemotherapy drugs, pain management medications, hydration fluids, immunoglobulins, and nutritional supplements.

Patient Eligibility:

Patients who may benefit from home infusion therapy include those with chronic illnesses, infectious diseases, cancer, gastrointestinal disorders, immune deficiencies, or other conditions that require ongoing intravenous treatment. Eligibility for home infusion therapy is typically determined by healthcare providers based on the patient’s medical condition, treatment plan, and ability to safely receive treatment at home.

Infusion Equipment:

Home infusion therapy may require specialized equipment, such as infusion pumps, IV catheters, tubing, and sterile supplies. Healthcare providers ensure that patients and caregivers receive proper training on how to use and maintain the equipment safely.

Care Coordination:

The attending RN and agency staff closely coordinate infusion therapy with physicians and pharmacists. Working together as a team we develop and monitor the patient’s treatment plan, adjust medication dosages as needed, and address any concerns or complications that may arise during treatment.

Patient Education:

Patients and caregivers receive comprehensive education and training on various aspects of home infusion therapy, including medication administration techniques, infection prevention measures, recognizing and managing potential side effects or complications, and proper disposal of medical waste.

Monitoring and Support:

The RN monitor patients’ progress closely throughout the course of home infusion therapy, conducting regular assessments, ordered laboratory tests, and follow-up visits as needed. Patients also have access to support services, such as 24-hour telephone assistance, to address any questions or concerns that may arise between scheduled visits.

Overall, our home infusion therapy offers patients a convenient and comfortable alternative to receiving intravenous treatments in a hospital or clinic setting, allowing them to maintain their independence and quality of life while managing their medical conditions effectively.
